welcome from new jersey. learn and enjoy. I love my blackhawks. if you want black powder power put 4 f in your old army. I get over 1200 fps with a 457 round ball.

Good to know. I've never tried 4F in them. The guys at the traditional muzzle loading forum said it would be super messy and the ball wouldn't catch rifling at those velocities. I may get some 4F after reading this. There are 4F loads in older manuals, so I knew it'd be safe. My go to load is 30gn of 3F and a .457 lead ball over a lubed patch. I've played around with 3F goex quite a bit and 30gn seems to be the sweet spot. Thanks a lot for the reply. I appreciate it.

I get 37 grains as a very compresse dload
