New Guy -- AR556

First AR and first Ruger owned, and about 600 rounds through it so far at the range, few different times to test out some new things. I appreciate the forum, have been reading/learning a lot.

I've been playing around with it, removed the iron sights, installed 12" forearm and low profile gas block, changed stock/grip/trigger and added the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6X optics. Surprisingly my groups are the same with the scope on 6 as they were with the iron sights, but I can only get about 60 ft at the indoor range so 8.8 lb beast so now I do want to shave some weight. Bought a Faxon 14.5 and lightweight mid-length gas, and also a T3 compensator to permanently affix when I get it together to get back to the 16 requirement. Great way to learn about these rifles and how they work is to modify things! I may end up with an extra AR-556 from all of the parts if I'm not careful.

Dave

My AR556 has only been modified with a trigger Kit and a sling, and I love it.
I bought the AR Stone trigger kit from Midway USA and it made a big difference. The stock trigger was very heavy. I can see the appeal of hot rodding it. the modularity of the AR platform allows for lots of modifications.
