Thumbs up New Ruger owner

Wanted to say hello. I'm a convert from the Dark side, i.e. Glocks. While I still love my Glock 19, there really isn't anything aesthetic about it. So I went down to the local gun shop to remedy that. I was eying a Taurus 605, but they had a slightly used (less than 50 rounds) SP101 2.25 in .357. Beautiful gun. Checked it out with the help of some online guides and determined it was in good shape. I had to walk out with it.

I am going to go out shooting today. Spent yesterday tearing it down to the frame and going over it all. I simply won't shoot a gun until I know how to take it apart and clean it. This is my first wheel gun and I am pretty excited about it. My dad has a .38 special and it's a blast to shoot. I bought a box of .357 and .38 special to try out. Other than a night sight (must have in my opinion) and a holster, she looks good to go.

I originally purchased as a camp/truck gun, but I think I am going to have to give it a little belt time too. It has a great feel to it. Nice and solid in the hand and it points very well with the stock grips on it. I might swap, but not until I get some trigger time in.

Welcome from S.E. Michigan. I think you're gonna like it here. Good choice on the handgun, by the way.

Thank you all. Just got done ordering a Cross Breed ST and a Meprolight Night sight for the front. All I need are some speed loaders and it will be ready to carry. I love getting a new handgun!

Let the welcomes continue so I’ll say good to have you aboard! Now, let me ask you a question… who doesn’t love getting a new handgun?

Great choice for your first wheel gun! Let us know your impressions after your first shooting session!

Hi Vulgar1 and welcome. I'm new here myself and recently purchased my first Ruger. Unfortunately I will be sending it in for adjustment though, Ruger is first rate in my book. I've had warranty issues on products from other companies (non-firearm related) and had to battle to get any results. Ruger was not only no hassle but actually almost begged to fix the problem.

To answer your ? on my welcome thread. I'm from the Granite Falls area in Western WA.

Dave

This thing shoots great! I brought a box of 50 each .38 special and .357 Magnum to see what all the fuss was about. Just a little more kick than my 9mm It was very accurate, in SA mode. DA needs a little help with a lighter main spring. And maybe some new grips, but I will wait for a gun show to come around so I can touch some first. I plan to carry it so I was eying the Badger grips (I think that's what they were) but they are like 80 bucks. I just dropped almost 700 between the gun/holster/sight/new belt (why not) so I might space that out a little. I NEED speed loaders first. The stock grip works after all.
