Just wanted to thank this community

I've wanted a scout rifle since I shot a Steyr with a forward mounted scope around 8 years ago. Every time I'd start budgeting for one I'd usually end up getting something else on the way to my budget but I was done playing, I was gonna get an m1a scout squad this year no matter what. I'd checked out the Gunsite scout here and there but never focused on it. Never had a Ruger. I love Springfields pistols and loved shooting the couple of M1A's that people have let me play with. The closer to purchase time it got the more research I was doing and the more interested in Ruger's scout I became but for the $1200 MSRP I was still going to get the scout squad and I wanted the barrel a little longer than 16.5 inches (weight doesn't scare me sissies lol). Then 3 weeks ago I wake up and I'm scrolling through budsgunshop online and see the 18in SS Gunsite Scout from Ruger (didn't know they offered it like that) for $891 and ten minutes later my wife texted me to ask what I'd bought (she gets alerted on her phone if I spend more than $500 at once). Got my rifle Jenny. That's what. Which made her happy because she was tired of me talking to her about which scout rifle I was gonna buy. Well I got it and I am in love with this gun. I have many but I can't think of a circumstance (hunting, shooting, toss in the car/truck, SHTF) in which if I needed a gun I wouldn't just grab the scout (short of a home invasion I have a bullpup for that). I've shot it with irons twice put around 300 rounds through her and last night I dressed her. I love this rifle. Just wanted to thank this community for how helpful it was scrolling through all the posts and how your experiences helped shape my decision. Created an account here just to thank you guys. And this will not be my last Ruger. I don't trade or sell guns much but even if I did, this is my rifle until it's my son's rifle.

Nice pickup. The difference in handling from 16 inch to 18 is negligible but the 18 inch is noticeably less loud. The same in 223/556. My 18 inch mini 14 is quieter than a 16 inch ar.
