I'm also a new Alaskan owner and I found the same thing with a few different loads. Nothing bad -- a simple hand smack on the extractor dumped them all out. It seems like this is not all that uncommon with Alaskans and probably doesnt mean anything bad.

Those Winchesters are a fairly hot load compared to others on the market, so if you want to avoid the sticking cases you might shop around. I know of a couple guys who've also polished the insides of the chambers to make extraction a little easier. I think I'm just going to leave mine the way it is.

I would try polishing the chambers.
I had extraction issues on my 480 and with some polish compound and a drill I solved them

Welcome from S.E. Michigan. I think you're gonna like it here. I would suggest also trying some different brand ammo, if you can. If not, the polish should work.

thanks, it's good to be here, now what?

I'm glad I finally signed up for a forum. I have only owned semi autos so I am not sure how to safely polish the chambers. I'm not afraid to try something if it is gonna help. Any advice is appreciated. thanks in advance.

I bought & fired Winchester 260gr Partition Gold and Magtech 260gr Jacketed Flat Lead Point both had strong recoil.I loaded some cast performance 265gr bullets using H-110/W-296 using cast performance data. I've used Sierra 240gr JHC bullets with Sierra Handloading Manual Data

Hey CC,
I get the same thing with any hot loads in mine. I read somewhere it's because of the new proprietary steel in the cylinder that stretches and returns under heavy pressure. Normal in other words. Advised a small wooden block to extract. I have tried this works great no damage. I do think I will try the polishing though.

Peace through superior firepower!
