Hey everyone, new to the board. Just bought a Mk III 5.5 Bull Barrel Target. Shot about 500 rounds through it over the weekend, and am happy with the accuracy, however not so much with the failure to ejects and the jamming. I took it down with a field strip and cleaned/relubed it all without much difference. Also I have been trying anything from bulk pack Federal to CCI Mini-Mag to Remington and having equal issues with all ammo. I've found a few things to try via this forum so I'm excited to try them out. Is it normal to have to modify a brand new pistol to get it to shoot 10rds reliably?

The steps I'm going to try:
Loaded Chamber Indicator removal (done)
Round edge on magazine
File edge of extractor (ordered VQ exact)
Clean/Lube
????

In answer to your question, it does seem that modification of the MKIII (or it's magazines) is almost a requirement for fully reliable operation (I've replaced the extractor and modified the rear lips of all of the magazines to acheive the goal). Other then this minor issue however, I love my MKIII |

Ammo can be the issue, however I also replaced the extractor and sear. The extractor I installed was A Volquartsen Exact Edge, no more FTEs. The sear gave me a smooth trigger which improved the accuracy. Post these types of questions in the Gunsmithing section.

Mine ran pretty well right out of the box. I put 200-300 rounds of Federal Bulk pack through it today- it's a tack driver!
I think they ship pretty gummed up with grease- I removed as much as I could and put a light coat of oil on it- a little goes a long way.
Welcome to the forum!
