I've been shooting the Mini-14 at work for quite a few years now, but finally decided to pull the trigger and purchase a Ruger model #5846 tactical mini-14.
Hope to get some good information and ideas from this board!
I've never been a "gun buff" per say. I always had my service and off-duty weapon that I practiced with once a month or so.
But because of the recent increase in gun violence, and impending legislation to regulate weapons even further, I decided it was time to own my own rifle.
A lot of guys at work told me an AR was the way to go, i shot one or two, still didnt like it as much as I liked the mini-14.
First off let me welcome you to RF from Pa.
second off How do you feel about the "safe act" and civilians not being able to buy AR type rifle in NY state?
The NY SAFE ACT is, in simple terms, an absolute joke.
It doesn't solve the problem that exists; which is the fact that people with mental health issues and propensities towards violence are getting a hold of firearms. Period.
It was a knee-jerk reaction by a governor full of presidential hopes. The NY SAFE ACT hurt a lot of men and women in this state by restricting their 2nd Amendment right. But it also kills Cuomo's chance of becoming our next president. Double edge sword I suppose
