Wal-Mart Dish Rack Safe Organizers

I went to Wal-Mart in an attempt to organize a really cluttered up, fu@ked up bunch of gun safes. I got the idea after seeing these in Cabela's for $29.95:

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...048&hasJS=true

I picked up what you see here for $2.69 EACH! That's less than 10% for the exact same thing! They are vinyl coated, and won't mar any gun. It's much better, and more handy than keeping them in cases.

This is the bunch of gun cases that was left behind in my reorganization attempt.

Now I have at least got a plan. 1 down, 3 to go.

This is a really good way to take advantage of every square inch your gun safe has to offer. Bill T.

Thanks for the tip. I ordered a new safe and it should be here next month. I'll probably copy your idea and install the "dish racks".

Excellent information and bargain priced too. However, I notice that your safe is very full and quite possibly unsafe. I suggest that you immediately send some of those handguns to me for safekeeping.

Song Dawg, I ordered a Zanatti safe, model ZA-II. Probably the best built gun safe on the market. The best feature is it come in 6 pieces. The empty weight is 500 lbs assembled. The beauty of a Zanatti safe is it can be taken apart and reassembled. Once assembled, it is just as strong as a welded safe. I will be installing the new safe in my basement. If I put a conventional safe in my basement, I'd have all sorts of logistics problems. That's why my current safe is in a spare bedroom and my wife is pissed because she wants the space for something else. Besides, Mark Zanatti is a great guy and is located in Iowa. Here's a link: http://www.zanottiarmorsafes.com/zanotti_final.pdf

Smile Gun Safe

Zanotti Armor is closed because of Flooding: Do not call or call and leave a message.

I couldn't find prices so I just hung up from the answering machine @Zanotti Armor.

Do any of you have any kind of pricing. ZA11 6' and some configuration prices?

Thanks in advanced

Neophyte, Well, I guess that is going to delay my delivery date ... For my application, I really need a safe that comes in pieces so I guess I'll just have to wait. I went in with two other guys so we got a significant discount by ordering three safes at once. Besides, we plan to go pick them up. Shipping costs are outrageous now with $4 gas.

If I organize my firearms this way, my wife will expect me to do the same for the basement, garage, sock drawer, etc., etc., etc. As great of an idea as this is, I'm afraid of the snowball effect

The price must have spiked a buck or so since I purchased them a few months back. Not surprising considering the way the value of the dollar is dropping, and fuel costs just keep rising. Glad you found them, and they worked out well for you! Good Shooting, Bill T.

http://www.gun-racks.com/home

My next project is to do something along the lines of a revolving, rotary type rack for my other safe. It has become a real pain to get to the guns in the rear rack. I've found these on the Internet. The only problem with the rotary type racks is you give up valuable space for ease of removal. Most of these types have the gun positions equally spaced. That works out OK for .22's and shotguns, but not so well for bolt action rifles. It would be nice to find one that had staggered spaces to allow for bolt handle clearance and such. Hopefully I'll find something. Bill T.

This really is a great idea.

I bought one of the racks in the Cabela's link in the first post starting this thread. It was pricey but I like to give my local gun shop some business. I wanted to buy another but couldn't see paying another $25.

Tonight I was in Walmart and I found the plate racks. A super alternative and only 3.96 each. I bought 3!

Great idea. Thanks. It is amazing how sometimes you don't think of something and then when someone else does you say to yourself "gee why didn't I think of that!"

What Walmart did you find these racks in? I have been to every one in the West Valley, well a bunch of them anyway, and haven't had any luck.

Those take up less room than the ones I'm using, wish I had looked at Walmart first. A lot cheaper too.
