I also clean after every use. It is part of the shooting process for me. Sometimes I just go to my safe and bring them all out and spend a day cleaning and oiling them. This way I know they will perform when needed. Since I carry, I want a clean gun.

Depending on how many rounds you shot the first trip, it could cause problems, especially in .22 semi-auto's. I have done it in the past once or twice, but I will take the gun & spray it out with GunScrubber. | Remember if you use Gun Scrubber, give it a few strokes with a CLP coated patch afterwards (or FrogLube, which is what I use). Gun Scrubber removes everything and could leave your bore open to rust.

I apply RemLube to any firearm that I shoot before I leave the range. I do this in case I don't have time or feel like cleaning them when I get home. I live in a desert, so I don't really worry too much about rust.

I finally broke down and cleaned my gun after a couple days of it sitting from just shooting 50 rounds at the range. Damn you guys and peer pressure, hahahaha!

Don't have a breakdown Tiger. I had one of the original Ruger autos - thousands of rounds thru it. Never cleaned once - never a failure. A J.C. Higgens (Stevens 311) I bought approx 1960 went approx 50 years without a cleaning. No rust and shoots like new. Still in the family, however I did run an oiled rag through it before passing it on. Today I do occasionally clean & lube my carry pistols, but not after just one range trip. Unless exposed to the elements I think frequent cleaning is overdone.

If I'm going back to the range within a couple days, I just wipe down the outside (since it is blued), and maybe the feed ramp if I fired a lot of rounds. I don't see the point in cleaning it twice in a few days. Couldn't hurt though.

Depends on the gun. Generally, the ones I shoot the most get cleaned every 300 to 700 rounds or every 3 or 4 months. I have some guns I try to clean every time I shoot them, specially my carry gun, but I fail on that at times. I don’t shoot corrosive ammo, so I just don’t worry about it. Oh yeah. Every time. My D.I. knocked that into my then-impressionable 18 year old head a long time ago and it never left. Besides, as many others here have mentioned, I enjoy it.
Oh - and Frog Lube smells even better! |

I'm another of the 'clean it every time' crowd. I'll even clean a weapon that's been stored for a while, so I may be considered a bit anal-retentive in regard to cleanliness.

Should clean after every outing. Just like cleaning your teeth. If you don't want to clean don't fire it! Have we gotten that lazy?

I like to clean them myself as others have stated. Just for grins I thought I would see how long my glock 17 would go before fouling was so bad it would not cycle right. I kinda gave up after 700 rounsd because I picked up a Ruger SP101 4.2" and began to shoot that a lot and so I cleand the Glock 17 and set it aside.
But generally I clean within a day or three of returning. Something my father taught me. Good to know I am not alone

I will at least spray with Rem Oil and wipe the gun down to get any sweat or gross dirt off of it. I usually clean it all out within an hour or two, but it depends on how much I shot it. The price of ammo and the wimpiness of my hand mean I sometimes only fire 15-25 rounds thru the 44 mag, and it really doesn't seem right to run a metal rod down the bore over that. My finances and priorities generally don't support firing hundreds of rounds of anything but 22 ammo. My 22 revolver is my oldest gun, the most heavily used, the least likely to be cleaned - and it still works great after 30+ years.
