Lightbulb Ruger LCR... HELP PLEASE!!!

This is my first revolver so this is all new to me. I bought this used and shot 20 rounds through it without any issues but I've noticed that the extractor star if thats the name for it is creating some scratcing on the inner frame..
Is this normal or what needs to be done to fix the issue?

I can't really see it in that picture. Mine has some normal/minor wear marks in that area. I did notice something in your picture (unless it is the lighting); the residue just above the firing pin (greyish color). If that is what it is and it is not the lighting playing tricks on me, give you revolver a good cleaning as per the instruction manual. The reason why I suggest cleaning is because if in fact the ejector star is rubbing the frame, there is a possibility there is some debris under the star. Which reminds me, since you are new to revolvers, do not lube the area under the ejector star; the oil in that spot will attract dirt, powder residue, and more. After that, try and get a close up picture of what you are asking about and we would be able to answer it better. (I suspect it is just normal wear marks.) Good luck, Frank.

I have an LCR in 22lr that I have shot a lot. 100's of rounds every time I go to the range. 1000's of rounds in total. I have marks like yours, only more of them. It doesn't concern me at all. Clean it, lube it, shoot it, love it. If it does break at some point, Ruger will fix it. Don't worry about it. I have a KLCR 357 on order too.

On Ruger's website there are videos that will walk you thru on how to clean your revolver. You may find them helpful.

You'll see pictures of mine in the post linked below. I sent Ruger the photos, and they wanted it back. They have it now, I'll hopefully get it or a replacement back this week.

It seems to depend on how deep the marks are. Mine will snag a fingernail, and they are from just the factory test fire. I never shot it.

Mine has been to Ruger and returned and it still has rub marks on the frame caused by the cylinder. It must not have been a concern to them or they likely would have fixed them. If yours looks similar to this then I would say normal wear and tear.

I always clean under the star each time I clean my security six. Is your trigger pull a little rough? Could be muck under the star. Scrub with an old toothbrush.

Mine has less than a 100rnds thru it. It has slight marks. Seems to be a normal thing unless it's excessive and gouging, I wouldn't worry about it. My little "J" Frame Smith 442 has the same marks as the LCR. I just opened it up and looked.

I just looked at bearcatter's and Jack D's pictures. Mine are just drag marks from the plunger on the ejector rod. I have no impressions or star marks. Now the star marks would concern me and it would be going back to Ruger.

My thought on my LCR-22 is about the small stainless bushing on the lockpin hole in the frame. On mine it was set several thousandths below the aluminum surface, so the star is bound to dig into the aluminum until it contacts the bushing. Either the bushing hole was made too deep, or the bushing made a little short.

I would like it better with a stainless frame, like my LCR-357, even with the 3 ounce weight penalty. No bushings needed.

The "star" marks on mine are just in the finish and they were there when I sent it back to Ruger. They were not concerned, or so I assume, since they didn't do anything about them. I'm not concerned either.

But I really don't know what, if anything, they did to this revolver. The only thing they said on the slip was that they couldn't repeat any of my problems. It appears that they did polish the chambers, but nothing on the slip saying they polished the chambers. Perhaps they put a new cylinder on it????

Mine is still with Ruger, they've had it nine days. I got back an old pistol rug I shipped it in, yesterday. I had told them I didn't need it back. The UPS cost was more than I paid for the rug.........

They called Friday to let me know it was with a technician. A different woman called Monday to let me know it was with a technician. No call yesterday, none so far today. It is frustrating, wondering what they will end up doing, repair or replace? The photos of the star impressions were enough that Ruger wanted it back, so apparently mine were not normal. To me, that qualifies as a damaged frame, and replacement. Yet I've seen posts of others with similar marks that Ruger was not concerned over. I'll see what the final verdict is.

At least you're hearing from them. I didn't hear a word until I inquired....and then it was .."any day now". I didn't even get word that it had been shipped, so was not home to receive it.
