Everytime!
Went this morning, cleaned this afternoon. My idea of neglect is waiting until the next day to clean 'em up. I find a sense of pride in keeping my firearms super clean. I also get a sense of security in the fact that no crap is gonna cause me to lose my life from a jam or other malfunction. Really, to each his own?

I enjoy the time me and the boy spend shooting plus making him help me clean the guns. It is all part of the ritual. Clean the home defense guns as soon as we get home and the .22's as soon as possible. Still need to clean the .22's come to think of it. Maybe after the next shoot.

Depends on how much I shoot the things. If I put 50 rounds through it, probably not. I may run a patch through the bore with some CLP on it and then a dry patch if it's going to be awhile before I go to the range again...usually go every week anyway.

After about 500 or so rounds, I'll field strip it, dry nylon brush and dry patches to wipe the loose stuff away before spraying anything and making a muddy mess. Q Tips with cleaner on them for slide and rails. I generally leave the firing pins and strikers alone -light nylon brushing maybe and just clean up the breech face. Just a tiny drop of CLP on the slide/rails and let it flow down. Wipe the excess, reassemble, rack the slide a few times to distribute the lube and test.

Never had and failures with my 3 auto pistols...strange, but they've all worked each and every time I've shot them I say "strange" because of all the issues people seem to have. Maybe I'm just lucky?

Sometimes, I clean my firearms for fun when they're already clean... My name is Hans13, and I'm an addict.

I always run a BoreSnake through the barrel & cylinder chambers of my revolvers w/in minutes to (at most) a day after they're fired, & go over the outer metal surfaces w/ a RemOil wipe. Same w/ the rifles, & the shotgun. The automatic pistols also get the BoreSnake & wipe down, as well as a field strip cleaning. I'm not incredibly anal about it, but I have a lot of time & money invested in my firearms, not to mention (potentially) my life. Observing at least the basic recommended maintenance seems prudent.

Apparently I'm on the much less side of anal than most people here (please tell my kids and wife, they won't believe me!). Generally I try to give them little more than once over and wipe down. All depends on how many rounds and when i will shoot again. For example, during bird season I'll only wipe down the shotgun but won't thoroughly clean til end of season. Bolt rifles the same, but hunting they really don't get shot much, just sweat, frost, wind blown debris, etc. Purposely have gone over a period of time and over 400 rds in my ccw Glock and my kimber 1911. Wanted to make sure of complete reliability and multiple bullet types before i cleaned them. Now when i do clean them, it is thorough with the exception of my rimfires. They usually settle for good brushing, spraying, compressed air blown and the light oil. My Savage 17 hmr is actually more accurate when a little dirty.

shaneshot brings up a good point. I usually sight in my rifle right before hunting season, & don't clean it until the season is over. I also fire a few practice rounds w/ my SP101, as the rounds I carry in the woods are different than those I load for home defense. Again, no cleaning until after the season. More superstition than anything else, but considering the low number of shots fired I doubt it hurts the weapons much, if at all.

Last range trip I took four guns, and spent three hours cleaning, but that includes being 100% done and everything put away.

I don't obsess with the bores. Once I get just a small bit of gray on a dry patch, I'm done. The rest of the gun gets 99%. I particularly like the forcing cone areas and cylinder faces clean. I oil the right spots, and touch-up any finish that needs it.

Talking I clean it as if my life depends on it.

I shoot a minimum 100rds at a go. Usually its 200 or better. I strip it right there at the range. Thats what a range bag is for. I have 3 cleaning kits; one in the range bag, one one in my man cave for the odd day when I only shoot a little and range is busy and another in my go bag.

A little over the top? I don't think so, as I carry every day. Not only do I clean but I inspect. It after I'm done shooting it. I also note any wear I find as to see if its new or wearing more.

I'm not a LLEO, but my friends and family are and I'm ashamed at how a few of them really treat the weapon the carry. I swear they don't clean or inspect their gun till after the have their semi or annual certification. They wear it out in the open in all kinds of weather. Forty hour plus a week. Not all do thankfully but they are still out there.

Not me brother! If I do have to pull on someone I know mine will go BANG!

Im a little on the anal side. I always clean each gun after the range, no matter how few rounds I put thru them. I also strip clean and oil once a month even if just sitting in the safe. I find it relaxing and I want to keep them in good working order and I know they are ready should I need them in a hurry. It may be excessive but it puts me at ease knowing they're clean.

Each gun gets cleaned after each use. I always take a bore snake to the range and run it through regularly. I only break down my MKIII once or twice a year to totally clean it. It really is a pain in the butt. i don't own that many guns, so none of them set without being used and cleaned on a pretty regular basis.
