Mobil 1

Does anyone here use Mobil 1 motor oil instead of all the gunstore products to oil their guns?? I have been using it for a few months and I really like it so far. Cheap as hell(comparitively) It's prob got way more R&D into it than just about any gun lube, it's made to break down carbon deposits, and if your gun gets hot enough to break this stuff down, you prob have other problems!! I hear the marine corps shooting team uses it in their rifles.

Awards Showcase

I've used Mobil1 for several years now. All of my firearms run good with it & show no signs of rust.

Pat-inCO will become famous soon enough
One of the guys, and I think it was on this forum, said why not use gun products on guns and car products on cars? There may be no difference, but for less than $20per decade, I'll continue to use FP-10.

gun care

I think motor oil seems sort of thick. I like using 3 in 1 oil. Dose any one use paper towel instead of buying cleaning patches? It seems so handy. Glassfixer

The fact that it is thicker is one on the reasons to use it. Many times the traditional firearms oils are so thin they will not stay where you put them. I like to have some oil actually stay on the parts that need to be lubricated. I have been happy with the Mobil 1 for what I use it for.

second the mobil 1, used on new dan wesson, cbob 45, 1911, she has ran like a top ! I had read that on several other forums, folks were using it, and could not find my cleaning kit, it was late, and I needed something asap, so I field strip her, applied a coat, and walla ! works like a champ ! go figure, lol

synthetic oil

I shoot in USPSA with a open race gun. I try to get at least 150-250 shots down range each week in practice and at a match. Been doing it for the past 4 years and use only synthetic oil without any more wear on the gun compared to my buddy that has tried every magic gun oil out there.
Plus I have a Tacoma that takes 5.5 Quarts of synthetic oil so that extra 1/2 quart is Free in my mind.
