The Butler Creek stuff doesn't get much positive feedback. The steel lip ones a bit better than those with plastic but they're still not up to par with the better ones.

I have a butler plastic lip. First time out it didn't work well at all. I think I didn't have it seated in well. Its been working flawlessly

My BC-25'S both of them are a piece of crap. I can run through stock 10/22 loaded with anything with no prob but can't get a good run of 5 out of the BC'S. I'd sell them but I have morals.

i hear you. got some arch angel ones that will not work, Paid 25 each, could probably get more but the trash can is the only honest option.

I had 600 loose rounds I bought at gun show two months ago, and mixed in were a handful of soft point lead rounds. My son and I figured out that regardless of the magazine, some of the lead bullets were too soft and would not chamber properly. When pushed forward out of the magazine, the tip would stick, putting a large dent in the tip, the bullet and case would fold a little bit, and the round would not chamber. A combination of two things: the softness of the lead, and a bit of looseness between the bullet and the case (not crimped tightly, perhaps?)
None of the other (FMJ) rounds gave us any problems, and we've shot up all but about 50 of them.
