Limbsaver - vibration dampener

The Limbsaver at Midway. Has anyone tried one of these things? The reviews are consistently good and it sounds like something worth the money, but I go to the web site of the manufacturer and they are almost half of Midway's price.

I first found them on another gun forum, with a review from one guy. Thus I started looking and found it also at Midway. Some of the reviews are amazing.

The first review I read said that his first few tries were underwhelming. Then he found the "sweet spot" and the groups (with cheap ammo) went from 2-MOA to about 1/2-MOA.

I guess I should just try one.

I just got a Limbsaver, today, for my Walther PPS. I bought it from Walnut Creek Archery for $10.79 + shipping. Got it in 2 days. Fast. I like the feel of the Limbsavers better than he Hogue grip. Haven't shot with it on yet, but like I said, it feel good and fits nice and tight.

the concept works. people who shoot .22 benchrest developed this decades ago. you shoot a 5 shot group, move it 1/2" repeat 5 shot group and work your way down the barrel. Put the limbsaver on the "sweet spot" and you are good to go. however, IF YOU CHANGE ANYTHING concerning you ammo you will have to repeat the process all over again. Since it is nothing more than a clamp w/ a rubber pad between it and a
the barrel, you have to be consistant in how tight it is clamped down. Then there is the issue of moisture forming between the rubber pad and the barrel. Proven product for people who shoot benchrest. For field use I have no use for it.

A friend of mine tested it on a .338 and claimed it worked as advertised.

PhoneJack, I was thinking the same thing. I have never even seen one of these before. I know all about limb saver thanks to my other obsession..bow hunting. I was wondering how this would be worth having in the field with changes in moisture and temp, which would definitely change placement and tension. Neat idea though.

I see these on M4 barrels where the cut is and I have to think it must just be something to put there to fill it in. Does it do anything maybe?
