New knife of my own making

I'm not going to highly polish this one or bother with cerakote. It will get used a good bit in the woods.

5160 spring steel. Hammer forged and flat ground. Short, thick blade. Two cutting surfaces. Tanto style tip with a concaved main blade. Both Scandinavian ground for increased cutting/splitting ability and edge retention. Six feet of paracord wrapping the grip. Though it can easily be sacrificed as the tang is quite usable on its own. File work on spine for grip. OWB/IWB kydex sheath with lashing points.

Interesting design. Rarely do I see something new, not copied. This one I have not seen.

Wow I really like this one! You should submit the design to some companies. How long did it take you to make?

Re: New knife of my own making

Thanks guys.

I've probably got about 5-6 hours in this one, but start to finish took me about 7 months. It's tough for me to find time for knife work these days. Three kids, wife, work, shooting, hunting, kydex holster/sheath making......too much going on at once LOL.

Very unique.
That right there is the exact reason why I'm learning forging and grinding right now. I want to make my own knives, simply because the off-the-shelf knives are never quite what I want. Its really cool that you can take some risks and try new things with knives you make,.
I have a friend that does kydex as a hobby, so I can easily farm that part of the work out.

I would prefer a larger finger choil/guard and a little better ergonomics on the handle and spine of the blade. Otherwise it looks fantastic.

I really like it - I can see lots of applications for that forward edge to the blade.
