| #1 Knife Sharpener!!!
OK guys & gals, this passed Christmas I purchased 4 different electric knife sharpeners for the wife's kitchen. NONE of them were that good actually and putting an edge on kitchen knives the ranked anywhere from grade of D to C+. The cost was over $185 dollars for the most expensive one. The motors ended up getting hot on all of them after 3 knives. Needless to say, they went back in a big hurry!
However, the best Bang for the Buck, is the little electric by
"Work Sharp" the price was around $68 dollars and extra belts were another #$15 bucks. I mean this puts an edge on a knive you can shave your face using. I also sharpened 4 straight razors and let me tell you they are scarry sharp. I put an edge on my one 17 inch blade Bowie, that is 1/4 inch thick blade and it too will shave the hair off your face.

I checked it out but the price is $89.95, but maybe I'm looking at the wrong tool. It does look like it works & I'd like to give it a try.

I don't like using power tools to sharpen my knifes. Something about doing it by hand just gives you more satisfaction.

A friend used to work for these people. Yes very expensive but they work. I have one of the commercials. Tru Hone Knife Sharpener - Tru Hone Corporation
You can get allot better price buying on online. I got mine through Surehatch Surehatch Egg Incubators and Poultry Supplies
From what my buddy told me most slaughter and packing houses use these sharpeners.

I'll stick to my Gatco diamond sharpening kit. Hand honing is best . |

I sometimes sharpen by hand but often use a commercial sharpener at the local hardware shop he charges 50 cents an inch minimum 2 dollars and they are sharp enough to shave wish.

Viet-Vet-68.....Sir, I do have more, as I make my bowie's from used blades off a C-80 Woods Mower. These are 1/2 inch thick and are made of carbon steel. They are very easy to sharpen and do hold and edge very well. I have also used file blades for a lot of smaller blades.
Now I sometimes have as many as a Bakers Dozen knives to sharpen and I sure won't be taking up to an hour to put an edge back on the blade. I also have a shop sander that does a great job when more heavier blades need sharpening. I have every Smiths stone made but sparpening stainless on these is a waste of my time Gents. |

There are however a couple electric sharpeners I'd like to try. If nothing else, they might give a good start.

The Lansky system, IMO, is the best sharpener you can buy.
