Way too many, both folders and straight blades. Made my living in the forest service, (fire control), and carried and used several different knives over my 37 year career. I have several Randall Made knives that are my favorite, but also used Case Trapper, Buck Folding Hunter, and Moore Maker Stockman folders. Carried the Buck and Model #8 by Randall Made the most.

I've accumulated probably 20 or so over the last 50+ years but nothing special or expensive.

It is good to see that there are more than one kind of knife. In similar posts on other forums the results are similar to what they are here. The only knives that get mentioned are 'weapons', everyone wants to be tacticool ...or Rambo. It doesn't matter the quality of usefulness ...as long as it is HUGE and looks cool they gotta have it.

I grew up in the day where a knife was a 'tool' not a weapon. I carried a pocket knife to school from Jr. High on. I know there are people here and elsewhere that will argue that their huge tactical knife is a tool. IMO I've had WAY more situations where my knife was 'too big' than when it was 'too small'.

It's been said I carry a "Gentleman's Folder" ...well ...I'm rarely called a 'Gentleman'. Right now I'm carrying a Hen & Rooster medium stockman with stag handles and stainless blades. I've carried a Greman Eye medium stag / stainless stockman up until a year or so. I'll probably go back to the German Eye ...or pull one of the older "Voss" H & R stash I have. This is getting into the 'heart' of my collecting. Stag handled German folders ...German Eye, H & R, Henckles mostly.

Please forgive my 'rant' above. It just seems the world has forgotten everything that isn't tactical.

I think the Stockman is one of the most useful knives ever made. But any of the two or three blade folders are practical. I have many fighting knives and bayonets but never use them. Its that little folder that slips right into my pocket the knife that is always around when I need it.
