Hey, just wondering how easy was it to swap out the grips? Did you just order those grips from Ruger? I think Im picking one up to feed my want for the SR1911.

Where are people getting the ruger medallions that are on the knives and aftermarket grips?

I agree it's a large knife, but if you've ever carried a Buck Knife, it's about the same size. Back in my motorcycle mechanic days, I carried a Buck and felt naked without it. My Buck is a 110 Hunter which is a tad thicker, about the same length but thinner than the M1911, but generally similarly sized.
It comes with a nylon case with a belt slide and also a spring clip if you want to carry it exposed on your belt. But, granted it's big. I don't carry mine unless it's in the range bag. Otherwise, it sits in the display case for my SR1911. When I carry my SR1911, I carry it concealed. But a full sized 1911, extra magazine and this knife would be bulky and reminiscent of my old duty belt. I'd just have to add a handcuff pouch and I'd be almost equal to what I used to wear - which did include my Buck.
In my opinion, the fixed blade is the most handsome of the 3 versions it comes in, fixed, folding and folding compact. But, carrying it is even more impractical. I suppose a hunter would feel right at home with the fixed blade on a hunting trip.
I'm very impressed with the quality, material and workmanship of the knife - all top notch.
I picked one of these up to keep my sr1911 company. I don't know if it's the type of metal but after 3 weeks of storage the blade had surface rust. Make sure you oil your blades before any type of storage. Overall it's a great 1911 peice.
