Camp knives

So my main go to knife is a Buck 119 for camp knife purposes...but I recently bough a new knife to mess with, a Mora Companion HD Carbon. Since I have gotten the Mora, it has been used in gardening tasks, general cutting, bait knife, fish gutting knife, meat cutter, you name it.

What knives do the work as a dedicated camp knife / all purpose knife for you?

I sure want to see the OP's new Mora Companion. My favorite carry/ do everything knife is a Buck folder (3rd from the left in the photo) that has done duty in countless tasks requiring a cutting tool. The other photo is of my "camp rig". My hunting/ fishing camp is in the woods on private land. I need a strong, sharp knife but nothing too big. Mine is a Parker fixed blade made in Alabama.

A stag handle Böker with 440C steel for a fixed blade. Always liked this one for how it takes and holds a razor sharp edge.

More often just have a Kershaw Cryo II for an inexpensive but tough folder. Also pretty impressed with the steel on this one for a cheap knife. The frame lock seems very strong and doesn't get clogged with dirt like a liner lock.

My go to camp knife is an original Gerber Gator with partially serrated clip-point blade. It's the Oregon made version, about 20 years ago. Not the new Chinese ones. Before the internet told me I needed every knife blade, type, and steel out there, that Gerber was my only knife I had for hunting, fishing, and camp. Go figure.

Last time I was out camping, it was an Ontario Old Hickory Butcher Knife. Great for camp and kitchen.

Gerber Prodigy. I recently picked up the Walmart exclusive version (only sold in stores) which has the drop point blade without serrations. Plan to use it as my camp knife this year. Link is below for anyone wanting to see what it looks like.

By the way Planecat this one is made in the USA as are all the Gerber knives in their Gator Series.

Cold Steel Long Hunter, inexpensive , plain jane 7 1/2 inch blade 1 3/8 inch wide, plastic grip , no hilt....very similar to Sixgun100's Old Hickory with a little more drop point.
If it gets lost or damaged you will not cry over it .
Went to check on price and they are discontinued...bummer !
Just when you get to liking something , you can't get it any more !
At least they still make Old Hickory knives...I like them a lot. I've got an Old Hickory boning knife that gets used a whole lot in the kitchen , very useful blade shape.

We are the same as far as knives go. My buck 119 is my deer knife. My morakniv is for everything else. Last years deer was dressed with the 119 and butchered with the morakniv. The morakniv still shaves hair and has not seen a stone. Best $12 I have spent.

I put 18 bucks into it for the carbon bladed version. The thing shaved hair out of the package! And all I have done since is stropped it a few times after use and it is back to hair popping sharp.

I agree...best under 20 bucks I have ever spent. I do not usually tell people what they should buy, but if you don't have a Mora, you need to get one.

An Esee 3 is my go to camping knife. I've been considering adding a larger Esee 4 or 5, but the 3 can handle most outdoor tasks just fine.
