One Special Knife...

It isn't price, quality, or features that make this small fixed-blade knife special to me. The knife is just an American made (Parker of Alabama) tool I picked up on sale at Service Merchandise over 25yrs ago. I carried this knife for a good while working in a lumberyard. It proved to be tough and durable, but the leather sheath took a beating. What makes this knife special is who modified the sheath. My good buddy has been deceased about 20 years now, but I still miss him. He was somewhat of a hero to me. He volunteered for the Army, got his Jump Wings, became a L.R.R.P., and did three tours in S.E. Asia. I met him in the early 1980's. He taught me how to really run a revolver and an AR-15, how to reload for my .357, helped me get my first real job, and introduced me to my wife. He also killed a rattler, tanned it's hide, and stitched it to my old leather sheath. Now I think of him every time I see that snake skin cover.
In memory of C. L. Runge, 173rd Airborne Btn, US Army L.R.R.P.
