So, I bought a Kershaw Camber (and I really dig that knife) as my new EDC as I found the Blur to be just north of too big for that purpose. So I passed the Blur to my son who really wanted it. So feeling bad that I was giving him that Blur for nothing, he gave me a SOG Trident that he had just sitting around in return (he had gotten it from a friend as a gift but he really does not like the Trident).
I want to like it, the blade is AUS 8 and holds a nice sharp edge, the auto-assist is ok, it has a deep carry clip on it, but there is no steel liner to it, the handle is some composite plastic that feels somewhat cheap to me, and the blade is a partial serration. Most of this I can look past and use it as a daily beater knife.
But there is one issue I have that I can't look past.
The blade has more play than any knife I have ever owned. Side to side, Forward/Backward against the lock, and even In and Out (like if it was an auto knife and I was pushing the blade back in). I tightened the pivot screw on it to almost to the point of binding the auto-assist but it is still pretty wobbly. I am thinking of replacing the pivot washers with polished brass ones and see if I can snug it up more.
Any thoughts on how to adjust the blade against the lock and the in/out play though??? Those I am lost on.
