Something a little different...
Here's my first attempt at making a knife by forging an old file.
It cracked when I heat treated and quenched it in water-probably should have oil quenched it. Live and learn. If I can acquire some leaf springs tonight, I'm going to maek another attempt this weekend.

Just saw a sweet fixed blade at Dillon's. They also make and service military mini guns. They replace the barrels at 100k rounds. They have a guy that takes the old barrels and makes knives from them. Beautiful!

Well, I was going to post my 1911 knife but after viewing all these I feel a little inadequate.

I went to a folk festival this weekend. Lots of vendors from all over. This knife was made by a very nice man with a great southern accent, who came all this way north from Tennessee. He specializes in custom knives, turkey calls and muzzle loading guns. It's 1095 Tool steel and that's cow bone. Overall length is 6 1/4 and it's sharp as a razor. I'll use this one often and remember my friend from Tennessee.

All of mine are made by Cold Steel, with the exception of my Rambo II replica. Sorry, no photos; no digital camera here, and even if I had one, I wouldn't know how to use it to post pics if my life depended on it.

I've got a machette made in Mexico while I watched. It's mostly a novelty.
