RNorris, thanks, nice to know I'm not the only one who was hard on scabbards. Then again it did go everywhere with me ...
I like the two blade trapper you have. Also I have now bookmarked your blog, great writing.

These are my current favorites that keep finding their way onto my belt, in my pocket, or around my neck these days.

I don't collect knives but I used to carry a Buck for years. It was incredibly handy! I stopped carrying it after my son who was around 8 or 10 years old at the time, found it and decided to see how well it dug into cement. Needless to saw, my Buck had met it's match. The tip got broken on it and I just put it away in a drawer.

Several years later, I opened a package from my son on Christmas. Inside was my old Buck, but with the tip repaired. You can't tell it from new anymore (well, some of you might be able to).

That was a very special Christmas present!

I've still not carried it, but I did finally get another knife (I'm not counting pocket knives - I've had too many of those to count and only stopped when I started having to fly too much to make it worth my while).

I think you can see why I got this one!

Wow, a lot of cool knives!

Here are a couple of the several I've made. I made them for friends. The first one has bull elk hide for the leather covering the wooden sheath and bull elk hoof toe as a pommel I gave it to the rancher that lets us hunt elk on his property.

The second one is a Scottish black knife called "sgian-dubh" (or skean-doo). The wooden sheath is covered with whitetail hide and the white horn is reindeer horn. I gave it to a friend who housed my oldest son his first year away at college.

The sgian-dubh is flat on the back side so it slides into one's sock. It fits snugly in the sheath, but can be drawn with one hand if the sheath is snug in a sock.

Knives are almost as much fun as guns.
