I've probably had my Lansky for 25-30 years. Once a co-worker broke the tip off of his pocket knife and mentioned it in passing. I ask to to give it to me so I could fix it for him. I reshaped a tip on it and sharpened it for him. I like it when I have time but I wish I could find something to use for a quick tune up when my knives need it.

+1 for the Lansky. I have the 5 stone set and have used it for over 14 years. The only issue I have now is some of the stones are showing some wear.

I have a 5 stone Lansky and like it. I have always used regular Norton stones followed by a hard Arkansas. I have a hard time holding the same angle on both sides. Not so with the Lansky. Picked mine up used for $30 used w/stand.

My Lansky does fine up to a point on blades 3" or shorter. It doesn't seem to ever get them to a so called razor sharpness but it works. On longer blades a diamond steel seems to work better and faster.
