| Hunters gone CRAZY???
So I just happen to tune in to a local hunting show on the radio this afternoon and heard a couple guys talking about deer hunting and how they bathe in deer urine and wash hunting clothes in scent free soap and dirt scented dryer sheets. One guy even said he bought a seperate washer and dryer for his hunting gear only. They talked about putting up cameras in the woods and planting food plots. They mentioned some of the "essential" gear needed to successfully hunt nowadays such as fancy camo patterns, scent blockers, gps and all the newest nicest most expensive guns and ammo. Made me think back on the days when my old man drug me out into the woods with a cigar hanging out of his mouth wearing some old carhart overalls with a sack lunch in one hand and a beat up 30-30 lever gun in the other. Seemed we always came home with a deer. I guess the deer have really evolved since the old days.......or hunters have gone crazy.

I once knew a young man who was "into" all of that and he asked me one day if I used anything to cover up my scent. Yep, I use RIGHT GUARD every day!

Those guys who read all the magazines, watch all the TV hunting "specials" and spend way too much time (and money) at Bass Pro. My Dad was a big time deer hunter when he was alive and I don't think he spent a dime for anything except for slugs to fit his 30 year old shotgun. Wore the same set of Carharts that he wore to work plus a orange hat. As I recall, the meat tasted mighty good **every** year.

I'm an old guy now so I just stay at Bass Pro all day and don't even bother to go to the woods anymore. I like all the animals standing around in the store.

T-shirt and bluejeans. Browning BLR .243 and the new addition this year, the .357 Blackhawk. That's it. Camo makes me laugh!

We all get carried away, sometimes.
Reminds me of the days when I was pretty religious about my fly fishing. I was out in idaho on the South Fork of the Boise working the evening hatch without much success. Fish were rising everywhere and I had gone through half a dozen of what I thought were the right imitations. Finally figured out they were taking emerges fished just under the surface and managed to hook one fish, but lost it, before calling it quits. Rough night.
Back at the parking lot, saw two guys bait fishing from the shore, radio playing in their pickup, behind them. (My darn rod cost more than their pickup.) They asked how I did and I told them I'd had better nights. They looked at me funny and one of them said, "Really? Heck we've been killing them on cheese balls." They then they held up a stringer with six of the biggest damn rainbows I had seen in years.
Sometimes we just make it one heck of a lot harder than it needs to be, whether fly fishing or deer hunting. It ain't rocket science.

Kicked back on the shore bait fishing. Though Ill usually have one rod with a with a spinner or something similar casting through spots for giggles. Not a hunter myself but the rest of my family is into it. A few of my cousins are guilty of having every little bit of hunting paraphenalia possible.

The older I get, the simpler I like it. These days, I'd just as soon chase largemouths and smallmouths from the canoe, just tossing my favorite bass plug or bass jigs with my old casting gear. Nothing too complicated, but loads of fun. This gal loves her bass fishing.
