it was my Dad years ago. Got my first hunting rifle at 5 yrs old. it was an old British 303. My Dad since has just left me behind when I was 12. So it is my BIL and his son and now his oldest girl 13. I have a buddy at work that we also spend a lot of time together. You Dads that are hunting with your sons or daughters, I thank you.

I hope to teach my daughter how to hunt. I learned to hunt by myself (no one in my family hunts) with some help from friends and pure determination. At 3yrs old, she already helps me "make the bullets daddy...." I don't have a partner, but I'm hoping for one when she's of age....

I only hunt with a select few people I'll hunt with. My father, my fiance and Chris, my best friend, are all good choices, but I'd have to say Tikka, my retriever. First year she had 33 retrieves. six geese, a few ducks, but most of them were grouse. Ruffed, spruce and Sharptail. Nothing beats a good day in the field seeing her work. It's not about the kill. It's the whole seen playing out.The flush, the shot, the marking of the fall, the release. "Fetch it up, Tik", the retrieve and the delivery to hand. Even if I go home empty handed, which rarely happens, It was worth it. I can't wait for September. This year I may even try rabbit hunting with her.
