Now on my list...,when hunting in Texas, make sure the tent sits in the box of the truck. Secure tent upon exit, recon tent upon entry. Check! Got it!

THIS was my excuse for getting a Ruger GP100. Haven't seen any

snakes worthy of the ammo, but 38 special ratshot packs a good

punch.

Yikes! Living an hour from the Canadian border has it's share of downsides, but not having poisonous, bitey things sure ain't one of 'em.

I am really glad You were not bitten. But this is the very reason my Tent and both my Ground Blinds have floors and good zippers, for the doors in them.

Try shooting one 6 feet away with a 20X scope.

I think it's cool. I am glad you didn't get bit, but my guess is living where you do, you are always conscious of these things. We have prairie rattlers here, and when we dove hunt, or call coyotes after winter, you better kick the grass before you sit down. I like to looking for them and shoot them with snake shot and skin them. Haven't eaten them though. I've eaten rattlesnake before, but it just wields me out too dang much when I'm skinning one and it's still moving or heart is beating. Lol. Here's one I killed last year.
