Grass Lands Muley

This is the fattest buck I've ever taken, used a 7mm08 with Nosler 140GR BT, R-P case, Varget,Win. Mod 70 FW range was 220 to 235 wind gusting left to right, tired to stick it in the pocket between the neck and shoulder he was looking at me, after cleaning hit him dead center, did a 1/4 turn and tipped over stiff legged. When I was out in that county in early Oct. Antelope hunting had seen alot of Mule deer. Their numbers have been down since 2008, we had a hard winter and big die off. Have standing permission on a big ranch to hunt, so had Monday off, the time change put me behind,on the way in lots of deer out and the rut had stated. Seen 8 different bucks that day its nice to see their number coming back. In the last photo you can see the fat on his butt.

Recovered Bullet

This is the bullet I found butchering him up, he was facing me quartering left to right. He was hit center were the neck and body meet, bullet ranged thru the body cavity taking out the front of the lungs and lodging in his left shoulder, where it hit the ridge on the outside of the shoulder blade, jacket was on one side and the core on the other with about 2" of penetration. Clssic mushrooming of the core.

Great Muley. I also shoot the 140 gr. Ballistic Tip in my .280 and 7mm STW and my son's 7-08. Awesome bullet.

A good hunt and good shooting looks like a lot of good meat and am surprised at the amount of fat. Thanks for sharing

Nice shooting and a beautiful buck! Isn't it satisfying to harvest game with your own hand-loads? I noticed the game hoist on your truck in the photo. I love mine! I have used it twice this season to recover and break down whitetail bucks. It was a Christmas gift from my wife two years back, but I didn't take a deer last season.
