Yep. The version of it I know was given to me by my grandfather nearly seventy years ago . . .

LET ME SHOOT CLEAN, KILL CLEAN

AND IF I CANNOT KILL CLEAN

PLEASE, LORD, LET ME MISS CLEAN

Yup, shot and killed deer, gutted them, skinned them, butchered them, and loved eating them. At 73 I can't run fast enough to "catch" them (also respect those horns). Buried the bones and nothing came up so never harvested any, but will keep trying! Oh BTY no Reindeer hunting please!

When I grew up in California and hunted blacktails , I use to hear that a lot . " How was youre hunting trip , did you catch a deer " ? It was always from my non-hunting friends and acquaintances . I really don't think they knew how to word the question .
Maybe they were just uncomfortable with saying , KILL ?
Don't believe I've heard that since moving to Utah 24 years ago .
Never made me want to punch a kitten in the face , HaHaHa .
Well , maybe once or twice .

Do poachers illegally kill game or do they illegally harvest game?

This IMHO, just legal semantics from your particular state's fish and

game department.

In this case "harvesting" infers using an illegal tactic which removes

the sportsmanship from "hunting". One of the world's best trophy hunters

of the last century, a guide whom I knew personally, a next door neighbor

for 35 years, called it "Harvesting".

I don't understand the whole harvesting thing either, but its used extensively throughout the government websites for hunting.
