SR1911 Commander holster options

I found a Ruger SR1911 Commander and picked it up today ($675). I didn't realize how "big" it was. It's only 3/4 of an inch shorter than the full sized. I though It would be more like the RIA Officer model. It's not a negative, just an observation. I'm very happy with it.

With that, what are some good holster options for concealed carry? I realize I could Google all of this, but wanted to get some knowledge from the field... so to speak. Thank you.

Montana, I too just picked up a SR1911, full size, yesterday, if anyone has recommendations for a carry holster, please post as well.

Had first range visit this morning, love the new weapon.

I recently got a tanker model shoulder rig from El Paso Leather, for my Colt Commander 1911, very comfortable, albeit a little expensive. Living in Montana, I'm always wearing at lest a vest, so a shoulder rig make the most sense for me. Just another option.

I will let you know in a few more months how I like the Milt Sparks Nexus model. (After I receive it, and have a chance to wear it.)

John,
Thanks for the input. I have a shoulder holster, and I wish it could be a better option, but it's so frickin' hot here in El Paso, I rarely wear cloths that would allow that type of carry. Open carry in illegal here as well, so concealed carry is my only option.

I wish I was in the great Big Sky Country like you (I grew up in Columbus, then when to college in Minot, ND, now I'm in the Army)...

Montana,
Thank you for your service. I served in the Marine Corps from '66 to '72, many life lessons.
Well since a shoulder rig is out of the question, I can recommend the owb holsters from Simply Rugged. They make a high quality, comfortable holster. Take a look at their website.

I've been wearing a Simply Rugged Sourdough Pancake for my 2 3/4" Speed Six every day for over a year now, both IWB in the warmer months and OWB in the winter and have absolutely loved it. I've got a IWB Slim holster from TT gunleather coming in sometime this week for my SR1911 Commander and will be sure to let you know how I like it.

Believe it or not I like my Walmart holster for the SR1911 Commander. It's solid and comfortable. Good price too.

SR1911 Commander holster options

I carry a S&W 1911sc-e, a commander sized 1911 aiwb in this http://garrettindustries.mybigcommer...ppendix-carry/. Doesn't seem big at all. It is actually my favorite to carry and rotates with my sr9c and lc9. Rides in a sweet spot.

Enjoy your purchase.

I have a Sendero Tactical Half Cake for my SR1911.

Sendero Tactical Outfitters, LLC. Products

By the way the company is owned and operated by Veterans

do a search on Ebay and you can get it a bit cheaper. The guy that is selling them on ebay does a best offer. I got 2 for $100.00 and got him to throw in shipping to boot. Right now I am waiting for them to do one for my Springfield XDM9 3.8"

I ordered a Crossbreed Holster in May for my SR1911 Commander and it should ship this week. One of my regular carries is an SP101 and I've used a Crossbreed with it for nearly 5 years. I found that it works excellent for IWB with a weapon that heavy, even with a pair of cargo shorts (use a good gun belt). Most days I slap a tshirt over it and it conceals well. Printing never a problem. Recommend horsehide for warmer climates.
