Do you want leather, nylon or kydex?

SR45 holsters

I also would like suggestions for a SR45 holster. I need a left handed one. I contacted Ruger via telephone and they replied that they did not have any for the SR45 yet, only for the earlier SR9 and SR40.

When I picked mind up early Feb. there was nothing available so I tried my Galco that I use on my KP345 and it fits similar shape. Just to keep that in mind when trying Leather holsters. Sense then I have made my own leather pancake style. I do it for myself just like I started reloading, cost but, I did leather work back when I was in grade school. Ok you can put away the flit locks

I carry a Ruger P345 in a Don Hume IWB holster. Below are the numbers found on the back of my holster;

H715MS NO. 37-345

I have not tried one of the SR45s in it but the P345 and the SR45 are very similar in shape and size. If you could find one of these holster in a gun shop it would be worth trying for proper fit. I really like mine.

I just picked up my SR45 today. It fits perfectly into a kydex holster I have for a Glock 21SF. That's Glock's Larg Frame 45ACP pistol.

went to the holster store online and bought an SOB holster. it doubles as a crossdraw and works well for both. it also works for my other three SR's. I like it and the price is right.

I was at Cabelas and wanted a holster for my SR45 but they didn't have any so I ended up with a Galco Kingtuck IWB holster for a S&W M&P 9/40. They took a SR45 out of the case and let me try it in about six different holsters that were close. This was the closest one and it's really, really close. In fact it fits pretty much perfect except when playing around with it at the counter the front slight did catch just a tad bit sometimes but it comes right out when wearing it. It only catches when fiddling with it off the belt and if you tip the muzzle up. If you just use a natural, straight pull it doesn't catch at all.

This is my first handgun so I don't know if they all can have a tendancy to catch a little if drawn awkwardly. If not then I guess I probably should have waited and ordered the right one somewhere else but my wife took me there for my birthday and I didn't have the heart to walk out without letting her buy it for me. I think it will be fine.

Edit - I just tried it again with it loaded and the pop-up loaded indicator gets in the way a little. It still works but it keeps it from going all the way in by 1/8" or so. It's still secure enough I think but now I am thinking I may return it and order the right one for the gun just to be sure.

Guess I will be looking for a good, IWB holster for the SR45 that won't be much more than the $60 I paid for the Galco. I see some posts here I with some ideas I will check into.

Just ordered the Old Faithful holster. If you check the discount page on their website you can get discount codes but you are on the honor system.

I got the "Quick Assemble Kit" IWB hip holster to save a few bucks. Looks easy enough to assemble, no cutting or shaping, that is all done unlike the bare bones kit where you have to do that yourself but it's even cheaper. I don't mind putting a few screws in myself but I don't want to cut or mold anything myself.

Here is the price breakdown:

Subtotal $42.97
Discount -$2.58
Shipping $6.95
Total $47.34

The fully assembled one is $75 (minus discount plus shipping)

My Old Faithful holster kit finally came today, ordered it Oct 22, so about three weeks. It looks ok but I'm not that thrilled with the big red company logo on it. They don't show that on any of them online. I may e-mail them and ask if I was supposed to get one like that. I guess it's no big deal, it will be concealed anyway. At least the kydex is for the SR 45 and is at least twice as thick if not more as the Galco kydex. The leather is nice, comparable to the Galco I'd say. I will put it together tonight and check back later with an update.
