Talking Custom CME Holster for Ruger SP101 3 1/16" Barrel

When I got my Ruger SP101 3 1/16" .327 FED MAG I knew I wanted a quality OWB leather holster that I could open or conceal carry with. The search was on, looked at numerous custom and mass produced holsters. The bad news, custom holsters were any where from 8 - 20 weeks and I didn't have a holster to carry the SP101 in so I needed one. And of course the mass produced ones were not what I wanted.

So I turned to Ebay to look for a quality holster, hoping to find a custom one that someone no longer needed with no waiting for it. I found CME Holsters and they had several holsters on Ebay including one for my Ruger SP101 3 1/16" barrel. It was what I was looking for and at a great price, I paid only $41 including shipping! I ordered it late last Thursday and received in on Monday.

I opened the box to find it packaged nicely in a plastic bag with a sticker on it stating the manufacture and their contact information. I opened it and the first thing I noticed was the quality of the leather, it felt very nice. Leather was thicker than I thought it would be. The detail to the stitching was top notch. No complaints.

So then I grabbed my SP101 and slid it in to the holster. It fit like a glove. The only thing that could possibly be improved on is the trigger guard could be covered a little more, but I have a feeling that as the holster gets "broke-in" that it will settle down into it very nicely. I have worn it all day today and it carries very nicely, comfortable and looks good. Close to which allows it to be easily concealed with a long shirt or jacket.

Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and would have paid much more for a holster of this quality. I will be ordering more from CME Holster very soon.

I believe the holster is the St Paul Special but I am not a 100% sure since I did not order it off of their website.

Looks like a nice one. I just bought 357 sp101 with a 3" barrel today. My dealer didn't have a holster for it. Have you thought about carrying IWB.

That looks nice! I've heard good things about them...the quality does look good...and I really like that color brown on a leather holster! Congradulations!

I prefer a thumb-snap holster, such as the Bianchi Model 7 3-slot holster...I have one for my SP101 as well as my 4" GP100!

I tried a IWB holster that a friend had and it just didn't feel right for me, perhaps it was the holster but I don't think I would. I carry a Beretta Nano IWB and it carries very nice and is comfortable for me. I think if you find the right IWB holster you could carry it but for me I think it is a little large for me.

I got the SP101 not for concealed carry since I can carry OWB in Iowa and I already have my Beretta Nano.

Thanks!

I have always wondered if I would like a thumb-snap but I have never had one and have not had any problems.

I forgot to mention that the retention is very good, no falling out!
