I just installed a set of Hogue rubber grip panels on my Mark III 22/45. I really liked the look of the wood panels but since I plan to shoot this gun, I wanted to keep those in new condition. The Hogues were a perfect fit and I prefer the feel of the rubber panels over the wood. I also plan to get the Hogue wrap-around grip for comparison and then decide between it and the panels. I do wish that Hogue would make a wrap-around version without finger grooves.
I've got the wrap-around grip on my 22/45 and I really like it. Definitely feels nice. Not sure if you could do this or not, but you might be able to sand the grooves of of the wrap-around grips. Maybe? I dunno...
I put the Hogue G-10 grips on my Mark III and I love them - they are "grippy" but not uncomfortable and look great. I have the Hogue rubber grips on my Mark II and I like them, as well, but I have to say that the G-10 grips are even better for what I need (speed steel).
Hogue makes great stuff.
