Super Redhawk holster recommendations

Just bought me a Super Redhawk 44 mag to try a little handgun deer hunting and have been looking for a shoulder holster for it and was wondering if anyone here had any recommendations on what brand to look for and where to find one. I was looking at these on ebay, has anyone tried them? Price is a lot cheaper than the bianchi's I have seen online

Be Careful. A lot of what you see on line (especially nylon) is crap. My Super Redhawk ended up cut to 5.5" and the Objective of my scope and the muzzle are just about even. The Bianchi HUSH holster actually fit this non cataloged item to a tee. So if you have to go nylon think of the HUSH system.

If it's leather your after, Galco offers a couple of choices like Galco holsters; Holsters; Gun holster, pistol holsters, western holsters, shoulder holsters, leather holster and Glock holsters Which is perfect if your gun also sports a scope? Well that's all I got. Money determined my choice (I was low at the time), but were I to do it again, no question I'd go with the Galco Hunter Holster shown above. Smithy.

Thumbs up

I purchased an Uncle Mike's Bandolier Holster in black for my SRH 7.5", .44 and scope. Name brand and decent quality.

Uncle Mike's Sidekick Bandolier Holsters FREE S&H 94136, 95131. Uncle Mike's Concealed Holsters.

This Scoped Revolver Holster with Chesty Puller System from Simply Rugged Holster is on my Xmass list.

The Roscoe is a cool rig, but he wouldn't do one with a scope and barrel length I sent him? Don't know why? Smithy.

The Roscoe looks like a quality holster but it looks like you can only carry it as a shoulder holster under armpit. I prefer the M7 style (tanker). I carry my 92FS or 1911 in the field that way. You can set it up as a chest holster or shoulder and that pistol is not moving and protected. The SR holster is like an M7 in many ways.

In the end, its what you like and what works for you.

I got this one from a fellow out of Mt. He's a one man shop and you won't find an easier person to do business with.

Drop him an email at trailmaster@bresnan.net and he'll send you an email with his catalog. The holster is built like a tank and should last about as long as the gun!

I like Simply Rugged and have owned several of their products (mainly speed loader pouches and speed strip carriers and the like). If you like the idea of a pancake holster, then he's the guy to talk to. Everything he makes is a pancake, even stuff that doesn't need to be. It seems he likes to stitch two flat pieces of leather together, put some slots into it and call it good. The Sourdough holster I got for my Alaskan looked as though it was ambidextrous in the way it was made. The gun bulged to the inside as much as the outside which would have been great if I suddenly got a wild hair to shoot left handed, but right handed only and this feature created an uncomfortable bulge into my hip bone. The inside piece should have been flat, but the outside piece should have been much bigger to allow for the girth of the gun. Split Six works in speed loader carry, but not in a holster. Just my take. Smithy.

I've been using the UM Bandoleer holster for many years and have no complaints. I did have to replace the snap on the flap last year, but I just bought a kit from Walmart and it's as good as new. You do have to be aware of the nylon when moving through brush because of the potential noise. However, this is where the bandoleer-style holster shines, because I can just rotate the holster until it is at the small of my back, and no noise issues.

The Galco is a nice holster, but I prefer to have a holster than covers my scope. Also, I do not recommend wearing a holster where the handgun is under your arm pit, like in traditional style shoulder holsters.

On my Bianchi HUSH system nylon holster, I whipped out my trusty sewing awl and got to work. The first thing I did was to remove any appendage associated with the shoulder part of the holster. I then put the flap on and because the flap thinks that it's still on a shoulder holster, I had to bend down the holster portion of the additional flap. After I got the initial form, I stitched everything down as tight as she'd go. I now have a Belt Flap Holster that fits my 5.5 SRH and scope. The gun was so short I figured that a belt holster would do just fine. Smithy.
