| GP100 - Bianchi or Galco
Hi All
After a 4 month wait I finally got delivery on My GP100 (4 inch.) - Yeah Baby!
I'm checking out holsters online. I'm looking for something I can wear comfortably for many hours while hiking.
I'm leaning toward the Bianchi 5BHL, but also looking at the Galco Dual Position Phoenix, and the Galco Wheelgunner Belt Holster.
I would appreciate all comments on the above and some other recommendations that you might have.
Thanks Much.

I vote for the Galco dual position pheonix holster, especially since next month i get an extra paychech and will be (finally) purchasing the 6" version for myself.
Edit: Almost forgot; Congrats on your new shooting buddy! A GP100 is a fantastic choice of firearm!

Might I suggest you try FIST holsters? Exceptional quality, usually very affordable. Try FIST, Inc..

I have had Bianchi and Galco but I far prefer Galco today. I have several galco holsters I have had for many years.

Let me suggest to you a custom maker out of MT. He specializes in Redhawks and GPs. You can get one of his pdf catalogs by dropping him an email at trailmaster@bresnan.net He makes a tank of a holster without a tank price. You can also see some of his work on Facebook. Just look up Trailmaster.
Here are several of his holsters he made for me. Very easy to do business with. The black one on the left is a 3" and the two on the right are 4".

Late response - sorry, but I just found your thread. Hopefully you find my reply! I have a Galco Dual Position Phoenix for my 6" GP100 and also for my 6" S&W 629 (44MAG). I like them very much but they do need to be broken in a bit when new. The holster has an adjustment screw that allows you to fiddle with how well it seats down inside and I had to loosen mine up a bit. I found I had to use both a while to be able to snap the piece of leather that covers the hammer. For some reason the S&W holster settled in faster than the GP100 holster. If you don't already have a good belt you'll need one - I ended up buying a matching Galco belt. I carry these as a sidearm when hunting.
I have a couple of other Galco holsters (a F.L.E.T.C.H. for my SR1911 and a Kodiak rig for a big S&W X frame) and I do like their stuff. Never had a problem with them and been happy with the fit, finish, etc.

Between the two, I suggest the Bianchi 5BHL or their Model 111 Cyclone, for dual-position carry.
Galco quality is good, but their pillar- adjusted holster is OPEN ALL ALONG THE FRONT, allowing pine needles, dust, and other junk to get in and contaminate the holster well! I wonder what the designer was thinking! ??
I got one by mail and never wore it when I saw that feature! Should have just returned it.
I have several Model 5 BHL holsters and find them to be great items, basically a "thumbstrap-released" Tom Threepersons design. They are long proven, and will serve you well. The Model 111 has a covered trigger guard and can be worn both strongside and as a crossdraw. I think it's a fine design for the hunter also carrying a rifle and wanting a crossdraw holster. I think they make it even for snub .38's, too.

Thanks Waveform and Lone Star.
I was going for the Galco Phoenix Waveform, but I'm going to first checkout Lone Star's suggestion of the 111 Cyclone.
Just got back from vacation, that's why my late response.
Thanks Fellas.

Thank you all so much for your great advice and opinions.
I wound up buying a Bianchi 111 Cyclone. I wasn't aware of this model. It has a crossdraw and thumb snap which I really wanted. It is also suede lined with exceptional leather.
Thanks again to all of you for your responses.
A special thanks to Lone Star for turning me onto the 111 Cyclone. I love it.
