SR9 Holster

I will almost certainly be getting an SR9 (first gun purchase!) in the next couple weeks. I've been looking at all kinds of holsters for it as I plan to carry it during winter, at the range, and maybe even open carry if I feel the need.

So what kind of holster do you carry your SR9 in? I've looked at Fobus but I can't find one that's made specifically for the SR9/40. I'd like to get a holster that has a push-button locking mechanism if there are any out there.

THE HOLSTER STORE |
Haven't heard of many people here using these but I sure like mine. I got the Pro carry Deep comfort. Congrats on the new SR9.

I forgot to mention that I'm planning to put a light on this and would like to have a holster that would accommodate that.

I've purchased many Old Faithful Holsters for IWB carry. For OWB, I went with Galco. I learned a trick with Galco, btw.....put handgun in freezer bag and insert into holster.....rotate 1/16 turn both ways until piece sets in comfortably. I'm sure this would work with most leather holsters.

Have you gotten it yet? Got mine recently and let me tell ya it was well worth it. My preferred holster is the Blackhawk CQC SERPA. Extremely durable, reliable and it comes with both a paddle and belt attachments. I use it in the paddle format and find it to be both comfortable and secure.

I totally agree with Equinox. I just, three days ago, purchased an SR9 and at gun shop's recommendation bought the Blackhawk CQC Serpa (size 13L - I'm left handed). Wonderful holster, great fit, very secure, safe, but easy to release.

You won't go wrong with it.

Best wishes

+1

I was worried about the button on the Serpa, but it is very natural. I release it on my regular draw without having to even think about it. The first time I did it, I just drew the gun with no problems. I use it in USPSA with the paddle attachment.

UPDATE: I bought my SR9 on Saturday. Haven't gotten a holster yet. I'm in the process of convincing my wife that it's a good idea to carry everywhere. I should mention that I have a nine-month-old son and another baby on the way. She's worried about accidental discharges and that my kids will somehow access it when it's locked away. Any advice here?
