| Old Faithful Holsters input
Ordering a pre-molded & cut kit with a 2 week wait time for $40 seems a lot more tempting then a Crossbreed for $70 with a 6 week wait time.

I've been happy with my Tagua IWB holster for my SR9c, but I am curious about the larger hybrid holsters. The Old Faithful kits look like an inexpensive way to get into one. Quality looks good. Feedback seems very good. I will probably order one sometime. I thought about trying to mold my own Kydex, but for just a few dollars more, they mold one for you. A no brainer there. I like the adjustability of it.

But for what Old Faithful does I don't think I could do it any cheaper after buying hardware and belt clips.

I have two Old Faithful's, one for my 1911 and one for my Sig P250. Both are very comfortable and hold the gun securely. So comfortable that I even forget I'm wearing them. Highly recommend.

I know, because I did it. The caveat is that you have to buy enough to make 5 holsters to get the price to that level. IIRC, it was the horsehide that you could not buy in small sheets, only large pieces. But I spend ~$50 and I have made 3 holsters, one for my SR9c, my PF9, and my wife's LCP. All three get worn and work very well. All those for about half of one CB Holster.
Molding the kydex is the hardest part to get right, but I found out that you can just get the molded kydex shell from Old Faithful and put it on whatever you want. I have thought about doing that because I wonder how much better their kydex would hold the gun than mine, if any at all.

Appears to be good quality. Same price as other brands if you let them assemble it. I think I can handle putting it together for half the price.
I'm a fan of Crossbreed and I prefer rivets because there is no worry about them coming loose. But, the plus side for Old Faithful and others that use screws, is you have the ability to buy and replace the molded Kydex yourself for like $15 if you get a new gun.

I have one of the DIY pre-molded kits from Old Faithful and I used to have a Crossbreed. In my opinion, after daily carrying a 1911 in each for a while now, the Crossbreed is much better. The Old Faithful kydex only covers 1/2 the width of the pistol so you end up with the leather having to bulge out to accomodate the pistol and the screws supplied are too long and must be filed down once you decide on tension settings. Also, I noticed that the kydex is not molded very tightly to the pistol so retention is not very secure even with the screws cranked all the way down. It would also be better with a deeper, full-coverage mold around the pistol so that you have a larger opening to slide the pistol into when sliding the pistol into the holster when worn. In general it's a decent holster, but maybe 80-85% as nice as the Crossbreed. I would not buy another Old Faithful, sorry.
