Found the Perfect Holster for 22/45 LITE

I found the perfect holster for the 22/45 LITE. Its a Triple K Sight Channel Holster Model 754 for the Ruger Mark III Hunter ~ 22/45 with 4 3/4" barrel. I originally bought the Triple K holster that Ruger recommends on ShopRuger.com and the tall front sight digs away at the leather, leaving a scrape inside the holster, and leather shavings on the front sight when drawn. I also didnt like the fact that the trigger wasnt protected. This holster is perfect, reasonally priced, and quality made in the USA. It has a metal piece that helps in unsnapping the retention strap, similar to a thumb break style. The retention snap is covered inside by leather, so no exposed metal to scratch your gun. The hardware is brass colored, and Triple K says its brass. I highly recommend this holster for the 22/45 LITE. It does everything I wanted in a holster for my LITE.

Here is a link to the original thread when I got the holster that ShopRuger.com recommends for the 22/45 LITE. I will be sending it back and keeping the Triple K Sight Channel Holster.

I got the Sight Channel Holster from Cowboyneeds.com

They really are nice holsters. I have several Bianchi holsters, and while the Bianchi holsters are more expensive, the Triple K holsters have more features, and are not just a well fitted piece of wrap-around leather. This holster fits the LITE perfectly. I will be buying another when I get my 22/45 5.5" Target.

Thanks for the info. Very nice looking holster. I ordered one yesterday for my MKIII 22/45 4 1/2" barrel slabside. I wonder how fast they ship.

I am going to install the Williams Firesight set on this pistol. I have them on my Single Ten and am impressed.

Here is an alternate site to buy Triple K holsters. Good prices, nice people. I bought my GP100 Triple K from here, thinking about that same 22/45 holster as well. Almost bought one for the Single Six but I landed a vintage Lawrence instead.

Hey Weblance, just wanted to thank you for the great holster recommendation. I ordered the one you recommended from America's Gun Store, received it yesterday, and am quite pleased with it. My brand new 22/45 LITE is pretty tight in there, but I'm certain it'll loosen up with use.

Anyway, you helped me out. Thanks for the post & photos!

Hey... your welcome. Thats why were all here. WELCOME to the forum

I squeezed my holster, from the top and bottom, and that helped a bunch. They are stiff when new.

Yes - thanks Weblance. I just got mine yesterday as well. AGS must have taken care of all the orders at the same time. It took a long time for it to arrive, but I like it very much and it was worth the wait.
I have my Talo 22/45 Slabside in it.

Thanks for this post. I've found it hard to find a good holster for my 22/45 lite. I too appreciate the fact that this holster covers the trigger. It's also beautiful.

Two issues I found:

1) It's important to read through the break-in instructions. At first I found it so hard to snap the gun in the holster I nearly returned it. But instead I slathered it with gun oil, stuck the pistol in it, wrapped it in a paper bag and a towel and laid it on top of a heating pad on low and tucked it under the covers of my bed for 2 days, taking it out to stretch and massage the leather occasionally. The strap finally yielded enough that I can snap the gun in easily now. It's a nice fit.

2) The holster is heavier than I'd like for my small frame, which I feel defeats the purpose of having bought such a nice, lite gun. So I'm going to keep this as a show holster, but for a real working lightweight holster, I'm going to take a look bladetech.

GenX... Im surprised your holster was tight. Every Triple K holster I have, has fit perfectly from the start. You want a leather holster a little tight from the start, because the leather will stretch a bit over time. You mention its heavy. With a good gun belt, the weight of the holster will disappear. You need to carry around my Mark II Target for a couple days. At almost double the weight of the 22/45 LITE, you wouldn't believe how LIGHT the LITE really is. The LITE shoots just as well as the solid steel Mark Pistols. Ruger really hit a home run with the LITE. I was in one of my favorite gunshops today, with money in my pocket, and there was a Cobalt LITE in the case. I decided I didnt need a 6th Mark Pistol, so I left without it. Now, about that Alaskan I held... salivate...
