I love my "new to me" LCR .38, but can't make up my mind which grip to use. The stock grip feels great, but is sort of bulky for pocket carry in jeans. The Bantan grip is smaller and hard to get a good grip on, but conceals a lot better. Recoil is not that big of an issue. The original shoots softer, but I can handle either.
So which do you use?

You need a third choice. I use the crimson trace grips, and like the feel, fit, and size; plus the laser is so intuitive is makes pointing and shooting seamless. The only down side = $.

Yeah, $ is a big downside. I only put those two choices, because those are the grips I have.
However, I would like to hear opinions on the CT grips.

They look to me to be as concealable as the Hogue boot, with no finger grooves to get in the way, etc. Although the Hogue boot is the way to go if you don't want the laser or are on a budget. The stock Hogue grips are the most comfortable though, and would be the ones I would use if carrying OWB.

I'd like to do a side by side comparison between my LCR with the standard Hogue grip and a range rental with a CT grip if possible before I plunk down the money for the CT. The Hogue grip fits my hand well and is very comfortable. For me the questions are: Is there more shock with the CT, how well does the laser improve target acquisition and is the laser price worth the tradeoff?

As far as the laser goes, I've heard nothing but stellar reports, but I haven't tried one myself.

I have the boot grip on both my LCR-357 and 22. It's the most concealable grip, and you go with what you need.
I use .38s in the 357. I don't think the boot grip would be advisable for most people if using .357s.

I tried the boot grip on my KLCR with full power 357 loads and while I was able to control it, I just didnt feel comfortable with the way it felt. It was difficult to hang on to, and I decided to go back to the original. The rubber on the front and back straps, on the boot grip, does the job though, you are able to hang on, but I felt the bigger grip was better. If the KLCR was my BUG, then I probably would have left the boot grip on, because it really does help with concealing the gun.

I still have original grip but am looking for a thin wood or hard plastic for carry.

| LCR modifications
Hated my LCR with crimson trace laser since it's hard plastic, found it had more felt recoil, more distracting than useful, at least for me.
Changed out to Hogue LCR™ Bantam/Boot Grip and had standard front sight changed out to Standard Dot Tritium front sight. Stopped using .38+ ammo, use standard .38 usually wad cutters or standard .38 hollow point. If at ranch will load with CCI 38 SPL Shot shells for vermin/venomous snakes.
Bear in mind 1) I'm a chick 2) an over 60 chick 3) recoil sensitive due jamming middle finger on shooting hand.
I don't use a holster, just drop it in pants pocket and go, no printing at all. It's not a plinker, strictly relatively close up self defense. It does have a heavy trigger pull but dry firing with snap caps builds hand strength
Before modifications was ready to sell LCR at gun show, now only thing I'll sell at next gun show is the Crimson grip.

I agree with luvmyrugers ... I've never been very fond of shooting a gun that was not fun to shoot. Using the CT grip will give more felt recoil and that is not fun. The Hogue has better 'feel' in the hand.
I've found that if I don't enjoy shooting a BUG, I don't shoot it often. And, that makes me less accurate with the gun. I did buy a LCP/CT, but think that little gun needs all the help it can get. But, the LCP is not fun to shoot IMO. I do carry it couple times a week, tho. Mostly, I carry a Bersa 380, or a S/W M&P 9C. Both without a CT. And, both are more fun to shoot than the LCP.
Plus, IMO ... I don't need a CT on the gun that I'm using in close proximity to the bad guy. I figure I can put a hole in someone inside 10 feet without a CT. Point and shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot ... yada, yada.
Holsters? I like Remora. Can't say enough about them. Fit the guns nicely, feel great, won't pull out of your pants/pocket ... very well made and inexpensive, too. I have maybe 10 of them (as well as other holsters). Check them out 1st.
