Thumbs up The Right LCR Holster?

H721 [H721] - $57.30 : Don Hume Leathergoods, manufactures high quality leather and nylon goods.

I've been looking for a thumb break OWB holster for my LCR-357. This one I like a lot, took 10 weeks to have it made, but worth it. I'm in every strange position any old time and don't much trust open tops. The Don Hume rides high, conceals well (tho the Tamer grip is always there). For now, this is the one ... but I also have a High Noon coming. Sorry, no pictures, I haven't had time to figure that out yet. Too much work.

You indicated you didn't trust 'open top' holsters but I've had good luck with the Galco Speed Paddle. It is 'open top' but very secure.

What I like best about it is that the paddle goes outside the pants, under the belt, and has a built-in hook that ABSOLUTELY holds it in place. It can be 'put on' and 'taken off' in seconds.

I never cared for holsters that required removing the belt and threading it through loops, etc. Also don't care for the paddle type with 'huge' paddles that fit inside the pants.

YMMV

I'd like to see that thumb break on a hammerless. Is it more like a flap?

Try pistolwear.com . They offer 3 holsters that are similar to a belly band, but far different in that the gun goes into a sweatproof pouch you can wear inside IWB or outside. I never cared for a belly bans type of holster until I checked these out. They fit under dress clothes, workout clothes, or just jeans or shorts and a T shirt. Check them out before making a decision as their holster was the most comfortable I have ever used.

I'd love to order one of these for my LCR, but I can't find anyone that sells them with the thumb snap. Last time I ordered a couple holster from don hume's website I waited 8 months and canceled my order because....it had been 8 MONTHS

I believe I saw a Mitch Rosen (really nice, close to body, etc.) pancake style holster with a retention strap on the Ruger Shop Site for the KLCR. I have two without the strap, one for a Ruger KLCR and one for a Kahr CM9. both fit perfectly, draw is great and the retention better than normal.

I've ordered the Galco from Ruger Store, a week ago and still haven't gotten it, maybe tomorrow. Also a boot grip in the order. I'll post an opinion, cooler on the way, maybe I'll make my range next weekend......

Will be my first outing with LCR.

I reviewed a number of LCR holsters some time back:

Update: LCR Holsters Reviewed

One more update. The Galco Combat Master has become the most frequently used; I also purchased the DeSantis Thumb Break Scabbard Belt Holster a few months back (available at MidwayUSA). That is the only other one I regularly use—the Combat Master is open top, good retention, fast, the DeSantis has retention strap, is very secure. Both conceal well, the Combat Master best. I do keep a Galco Stow-and-Go IWB around for very occasional use, but IWB is never altogether comfortable for me with a revolver. Although I really liked the Simply Rugged, the lower edge of the cylinder dug into my body painfully after a couple of hours, so for me not workable. Probably would for people with more padding... the rest I reviewed I don't use, for the various reasons in my above post. Y'all stay safe...

I like the look of that Galo Speed Paddle. I think that's my pick as I don't want to have to thread the belt though either.
