Get rid of LCI lettering?

I don't mind the loaded chamber indicator (LCI). The words "loaded when up" bug me as bit. I think Ruger meant for the whole thing to read, "Hey, idiot, loaded when up!" Is there a way to delete just the lettering?

don't know about how to delete just the lettering but Galloway does make a piece that replaces it.

I would imagine a company could make something. I know GP has the LCI delete, I would think they (or someone else) could make the same thing, but one that still functions, just blank.

Google up Patza LCI filler. Easy, cheap and looks like factory.

BarNone is an unknown quantity at this point
You could remove and refinish it all black. Less noticeable at least.

Not exactly the same thing, I realize, but I found the LC9's LCI stuck up so high it looked like a shark's fin. I was honestly surprised it didn't show up in the sight picture.

About two days after I bought the pistol, I took off the LCI and (carefully) filed down the "prong" (or whatever it's called) that contacts the cartridge when it's in the chamber. I took it down enough so that I could still feel it sticking up with a loaded chamber, but it only sticks up a millimeter or so, making it much less visually obtrusive.

To deal with the problem of the lettering, I just used some Birchwood Casey "Aluminum Gun Black" on the top of the LCI while I had it out of the gun - the lettering is still there, but it's REALLY hard to see. In addition, the LCI isn't so shiny.

I don't mind having an LCI, but for me the point is so that I can see and feel it, not somebody standing across the room. The LC9's LCI was so high and so bright and shiny (not to mention so red along the side - which mine still is) that I found it distracting. Of course, I have more than a bit of adult ADD (I'm easily distracted by shiny objects, especially guns), so the LCI may be more of a problem for me than it is for other folks.
