| Ruger 22-45 VQ Trigger Travel
I am dumb as stump when it comes to gunsmith operations and I ask for advice about a trigger problem with my 22 45. It has several VQ installed parts-to include a VQ trigger. Most of the time, when I squeeze the trigger, the trigger stops. If I release my finger from the trigger, and apply pressure on the trigger it may fire the round.
Several people at the range, to include a retired gunsmith, said that I have Pre and Over Travel problems and I should adjust the two screws in the trigger.
If this is true, what is the proper way to adjust the screws? Or should I take it to a gunsmith?

Nothing too complicated. Your description sounds like you pre or overtravel is right at the edge of "too much". Backing out each screw 1/8 turn might be enough to do the trick.

Thank you!
I will go to the indoor range Wed., with a light and the wee allen wrench. A bit hot here 103-105 with early mornings at 100 to go to the outdoor ranges. I had no idea how much patience this operation requires!
Will send you the results!

You are on Target! The back out worked. The pistol is much better than I thought or experienced. I spent most of my time working on adjusting the trigger. I shot 500 rounds without a glitch. It is fun to shoot and accurate.
My next task is to sort out a different sight system.
Thank you for your help. I greatly appreciate it!

Sweet! Keep an extra wrench in your range kit on the off chance you might need one.

Yes, add a bit more pre-travel. That's a fairly common thing with VQ kits, especially if they have been recently installed. On mine, I just added in a bit more pre-travel when that happened, shortly after I installed it and the problem disappeared. After about 200 rounds, when things settled in a bit, I was able to shorten up the pre-travel, again, with no problems.
