Base Pin

Hello Everyone. I`m a long time shooter ,but this is the first time i`ve owned a Rugwr single action revolver. It`s a new Talo edition 44 mag Black Hawk. I bought it because it is a beautiful gun, & I was always impressed with the stoutness of the Ruger revolver. So I go to the range, shoot 2 rounds ,& it jams up solid! The firing pin block is jammed against the firing pin. Great! So after looking around ,I see the infamous base pin slippage! I see that there`s a fix at Belt mountain. Can`t I just remove the pin lock, & spread the spring a bit? If that`s a fix ,how do I go about getting a notched screwdriver to remove the lock? Aside from making one myself. Just thought i`d ask . BTW other than that the gun is a beauty,a real keeper.

Can`t I just remove the pin lock, & spread the spring a bit? NOT REALLY, BUT YOU CAN DO SOME CAREFUL FILE WORK ON THE NOTCH IN THE BASE PIN SO THE LOCK FITS BETTER...STRESS CAREFUL...AND LOTS OF CHECKING! ASSEMBLE WITH BLUE LOC-TITE...SPARINGLY.

If that`s a fix ,how do I go about getting a notched screwdriver to remove the lock? Aside from making one myself. Just thought i`d ask
BROWNELLS HAS THE SCREWDRIVER YOU DESCRIBE IN REVOLVER PARTS

. BTW other than that the gun is a beauty,a real keeper.
Just a bit of fine tuning

Just get a flat head screw driver and a triangle file. Lock the screw driver in a vise and make the required notch.

Brownell's

Brownell's markets a driver for holding that in place while you turn the slotted screw with a screwdriver. They also market an extra power spring, which will cure what ails your gun.

I have and use both. Great modification.
