trigger length too long

Im hoping that is what it is called, please bear with me with this please, I am new with learning the technical terms for everything. But I have a P944T, When I have the hammer pulled back, the length of pull it takes the trigger to the point of release, is rather long and excessive. I was wondering if there was any way to shorten that up at all?

I have a Sig Sauer 239 and it's just the same. I looked into shortening it and it came down to; get used to the DAO and secondly, that the reset of the trigger after firing isn't nearly as long on the follow-up as on the first shot. I have been more attentive to the trigger reset point lately and they are right, I was letting the trigger out completely. Unfortunately, I simply don't like this trigger. If anyone can suggest a gun with a trigger much the same as a 1911 or BHP. I have a FEG copy of the the Browning but it has a decocker - smaller matter - and a return to SA after the first shot.

i know the ruger super redhawk 44 mag has a pretty nice trigger when the hammer is cocked, i know this because i have one, and my ruger p944t trigger is just a pain sometimes, ive shot a few hundred rounds and still not used to it.
