I carry an SR9 in a Galco cop 3 holster. Im noticing some discoloration on the bottom of my trigger guard. I suspect this is happening from my holster. The holster is somewhat new. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from getting worse and is the anything i can apply to the area to restore the black finish. Its not real bad but not sure if this is normal wear or not. The affected area is in the middle of bottom of guard and extends just past the front radius up about 1/8". Thank you.
It might not be your holster. Mine has some discolored area on the bottom of the trigger guard also. I believe it is a molding line that has been sanded or filed off at the factory. I could be wrong. Anyone else have this?
Nothing for the discoloration cause but if this is your carry gun, wear is part of the deal. If you're worried about wear on the polymer, then perhaps something different should be considered. Not trying to be a wise guy, just suggesting that finish wear, especially on polymer is very much expected for a carry gun, especially since one should be practicing with it often.
This issue was mentioned previously in reference to the same discoloration on the SR9C trigger guard. I examined mine after reading those posts and the discoloration was present on mine, but it was pretty faint. I think many (if not all) have the discoloration from the factory, it just may not be as noticeable in some cases.
