I have an older M77 rifle with iron sights and Im contemplating doin a barrel swap on this rifle and I was wondering if changing the front sight or removal there of the sight is doable or a big pain in the rump,thanks Mike......

To be honest, I have not removed one, but have see the failed attempt of "pounding" on off. You remove the blade by depressing the spring loaded plunger in front of the blade, and sliding the blade forward. the spring and plunger will fall out at that point. This will give you access to a a set screw you must remove. Now from there????? I believe you may have to heat it, but it should come off. If someone has actually done this SUCCESSFULLY I hope they chime in.
