Would't you have to shave down the height of the original and then mount the bead( to keep your POA the same)? ORRRRR are you talking a gold bead version of a big dot? In the first case you could fine tune your POA to your carry ammo POI.
I dont know what type of sight you intend to do this to.I did just what you are talking about for a friend on his Super Blackhawk by drilling the front sight blade.Then I turned a piece of brass to make a small shaft with bead on the end,and epoxied it into place.He has shot a lot of heavy loads with this set up,and it has held up just fine for many years.Be safe.
