If it is found to be something that does not occur due to normal wear and tear, IE: defective, Ruger will fix it free of charge.

Selling a faulty gun just to get it off your hands is something only a ******** would do.

yes have call into Ruger to find out if need to return for repairs. Looks like about $55 for over night Air, then $30 to return then $35 repair fee and parts it any.. No idea what price would be for parts. Or i could take to local gunsmith and have him take off the Single aciton notch, and bob hammer. Shoot double actions any way.

Will see what Ruger has to say

I suspect what he was doing was thinking out load what all his options were. We've gotten a sufficient reaction about one of the options so lets move on.

I already edited some of the personal stuff out so lets keep it up to the level we should here.

Sounding like it would be cheaper just to go to a local smith and have them fix the problem.

I'm confused. You are quoting prices and then saying you have to call Ruger. Have you called them and that is what they are quoting? If not where are the prices coming from?

see the following url for basic ruger prices.

Ruger Service Fees

the offical ruger flat fee statement. does not quote prices for parts.

So yes i still need to talk to Ruger customer service . have called and left number for them to call back. Maybe I can get a better idea of the best and worst case scenario.

I seriously doubt Ruger will charge you anything unless the gun as been altered. You might or might not pay to ship it to them. They might send you a shipping tag. Be cordile when you talk to them. Call Ruger and see what they say quit guessing. I bet you'll be happy with what they tell you. They don't want a unsafe firearm out. They will do their best to correct the problem in a timely manner.

I sent my LCP back to Ruger for repair. They emailed me a shipping label and it was free. Two week turnaround. Make the call.

I had the same problem with my Security Six when I got it back in '02. I called Ruger, and they sent me a shipping label, so I sent my gun in, and 3 weeks later it gets returned to me with a new hammer, new trigger, and some new grips. That gun is the reason I do not hesitate to do business directly with Ruger. If it is a potential liability to them, they will take care of you.

I recently had Ruger send me a call tag for service to a revolver... Ruger uses 2nd day air (blue label) service from UPS. They ship it back to you using 2nd day air as well.

The moral to this story: If you do have to ship a gun to Ruger on your dime save a few bucks and ship it 2nd day air instead of next day air.

Here the response i got from ruger by email . no phone call . no free shipping.

Response:
We recommend that you send your entire firearm into our Product Service Dept for evaluation. Ship to: S & R 411 Sunapee St. Newport, NH 03773. Put a letter inside with your firearm stating the problem. Include a daytime phone number, return UPS address, and mailing address

Not just because I am Ruger fan but because the following is true.
Ruger has the best customer service in the business & there repair & return procedures are the same, Outstanding. also, a very large percentage of the time, "Out of warranty" repairs are taken care of Free of charge. You definitely have a serious problem there. at least call Ruger. Let us know the outcome. Goood luck.
