Trijicon sights on a SP101

I want to install a front Trijicon sight on my SP101 part# RR14F.
Has anyone done this install before?
If so did the replacement sight come drilled already?
Is it just driving out the roll pin and replacing the sight?
If the sight was a dove tail I would not even think twice but I'd really hate to scratch up my SP101

Make sure and do a little searching on the differences of Trijicons and Mepros. I am doing my 101 up and went with the Mepros as a better alternative to the Trijicons.

But no, neither of the front sights are drilled. You need to do it. It's rather easy if you have any mechanical ability.

1. Take a finishing nail and gently tap out the roll pin.
2. Clean out the front sight groove.
3. Place new front sight in groove and drill half-way through the left side of the sight.
4. Turn gun over and now drill the rest of the way through the right side of the sight.
5. Tap in roll pin, noting how it is beveled to fit the barrel.

Easy peasy.

I do believe the drill size 1/16. Did my wifes 101, no problem. I did go for the mepro, though, lot brighter. Also put them on my P89.

I did the Meprolight on mine as a birthday present to myself: Happy birthday to me. Meprolight for the SP101.

That sounds pretty easy.
If I can rebuild a Garand and tear down a 92 Lever Gun, this should be no problem.
Thanks for the reply's and I will check out the Meprolight

I followed the exact same procedure on my 3 in sp101. IT IS so easy its crazy not to do it. You will be amazed at the difference. TJ
