| P94 caliber conversion
Hi... Since most of the P series pistols from Ruger appear to be the same size, does anyone know if caliber conversions can be accomplished by just swapping out the barrel and mags? Mine is a P94 in .40 S&W.

scattershot, As you probably know, the P-94 was made in both the 40 S&W (P-944) and the 9mm version. The differences are: recoil spring, magazine, barrel, and extractor. So .... yes you could convert if you got the above parts.

scattershot, Yes, I've had my P-944 at the range a few times. It cycles perfect with the several brands of ammo I've tried but I can't say much about accuracy. From a bench rest, my best 15 yard group was 3", and that was shooting my own reloads. That's plenty good for a tactical/carry gun. I also have a Glock 35 in 40 S&W. It will shoot 1" groups at 25 yds from a bench rest. The SA trigger on my P-944 is decent (much better than the Glock) but I can't hit squat in DA. Guess that's because I got ruined by 1911s.
I try to keep my pistol shooting sessions somewhat realistic so I practice 2-shot drills from a draw. With a 1911 or a Glock, I have no problem drawing and punching two holes in the head. With the P-944, my first shot is wild ... usually low, and my second shot is usually high. If I take a third shot, it will be right on target. My issue is not with Ruger P-guns ... rather any DA/SA pistol where the first shot fired is DA and the rest are SA. Had I started training with a DA/SA pistol in my youth, I would probably have mastered the 2-shot drills. This old fart finds his Colt Combat Commander the best of the best. I carried a Commander as a duty gun for many years and trained with it frequently. Even now that I'm in my late 60's, I can still draw and fire two rounds to the head in a blink.

My P94 likes 155 gr bullets and shoots to point of aim at 25 yards with decent accuracy depending upon what kind of day I'm having.
